Events and Medicine Grand Rounds Schedule 14 May May Biochemistry Seminar Series "Novel Mechanism of Regulation of B cell Differentiation and Lymphomagenesis by Ubiquitin-Mediated Proteolysis" Tue May 14 2024, 12:00 PM Speaker: Kojo Seys John ElenitobaJohnson, MProfessor, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Programs in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medicine 3rd Floor Lecture Hall, Forchheimer simone.sidoli@einsteinmed.edu More Germinal center B cell lymphomas (GC-NHL) including follicular lymphoma (FL) and aggressive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and account for the vast majority of lymphoid malignancies worldwide. FL is indolent, but transformation to DLBCL is a major cause of mortality. The mechanisms underlying the transformation process are not completely understood and in particular, the role of post-translational mechanisms in disease evolution are underappreciated. We employed integrated functional and structural genomics and mass spectrometry (MS)-driven proteomics to discover novel factors involved in GC lymphoma pathogenesis. We identified a conserved a role for a conserved E3 ubiquitin ligase in GC lymphoma pathogenesis and its substrate required for observed phenotypes knockout animals.
