Overview

The Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes is a vibrant unit with over 40 full-time faculty engaged in research, education and clinical care. Research activities are focused on the study of diabetes, metabolism, aging and thyroid disease. Members of the Division of Endocrinology are extensively involved and play leadership roles in three NIH-funded research centers: the Einstein-Mount Sinai Diabetes Research Center; the Nathan Shock Aging Center; and the Center for Diabetes Translation Research. The Division provides endocrinology inpatient and outpatient care at Montefiore Medical Center and Jacobi Medical Center and maintains an outstanding endocrinology clinical fellowship and postdoctoral program.

The Fleischer Institute for Diabetes and Metabolism at Montefiore Einstein serves as the home for cutting-edge research (basic, translational, clinical) and clinical care for patients with diabetes, obesity and related conditions. Named after Dr. Norman Fleischer in honor of his pioneering research and contributions to the field of diabetes, the Fleischer Institute builds on the strong foundation he established during his 46-year career at Einstein.

The Supporting Emerging Adults with Diabetes program, part of the Fleischer Institute for Diabetes and Metabolism at Montefiore and Einstein, is a comprehensive program dedicated to the care of young adults, aged 18-35 years, living with type I diabetes (T1D).
