This prestigious award is presented to “outstanding individuals who served in significant leadership roles and have helped improve the health of Hispanics and other underserved populations”.  We celebrate Dr. Blanco on this well deserved accomplishment.

New Program uses Ultrasound Technology to Deliver Joint Pain Relief
Under the leadership of Rheumatologist Beverly Johnson, MD, facility physicians developed the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Program to help patients who have severe and constant pain from torn rotator cuffs, muscle tears, joint degeneration, gout, muscle erosion, and other conditions.

The Rheumatologist covered Dr. Irene Blanco during her talk at the 2018 ACR/ARHP Annual Meeting in Chicago. Dr. Blanco discussed health disparities (differences in health closely linked to social or economic disadvantages) as a problem in rheumatology care today. As a participant in the ACR’s Collaborative Initiatives, the primary objective is to educate primary-care providers, patients and families in order to facilitate timely diagnosis and treatment of lupus, especially in underserved communities.
