ASIP SG3

Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, Professor of Medicine and Pathology, delivered an invited lecture at a Symposium for "Inter-Organ Communication in Tissue Homeostasis and Pathology" held at the annual meeting of the American Society for Investigative Pathology (ASIP) on April 23, 2024, in Baltimore, MD. The mission of ASIP is to promote the discovery, advancement, and dissemination of basic and translational knowledge in experimental/investigative pathology and related disciplines. The area of interorgan communication is extremely significant for the maintenance of health and protecting tissues from a variety of disease processes. Homeostasis refers to the equilibrium in interdependent regulators of physiological processes. Dr. Gupta's lecture was entitled, "Homeostasis involving the DNA damage response and cell interactions during liver regeneration". He emphasized how means for controlling inflammatory mechanisms offer novel avenues for inducing liver regeneration. This is extremely important for liver resections, achieving growth of the donor and transplanted livers, recovery of people after the onset of liver failure, and the protection or repair of the liver after various other injuries.

Events: AASLD Liver Meeting
Date: Nov. 10-14
Speakers: Dr. Fortune, Dr. Tow, Dr. Chacko and two Liver fellows won the academic debate.
