Reuters interviews Dr. Mark Einstein on the new guidelines from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, which recommend that pap smear screening not begin until age 21. Dr. Einstein notes that adolescents are unlikely to develop cervical cancer from human papillomavirus (HPV) infections, which is what the test identifies. However, those with compromised immune systems should receive pap smears soon after they become sexually active. Dr. Einstein is associate professor of obstetrics & gynecology and women's health.

Reuters Health features Mark H. Einstein, M.D., M.S. and his new research suggesting that the combination of two chemotherapy medications, topotecan and docetaxel, is an effective treatment for women who have recurring gynecologic cancers. The study, which is the first of its kind to evaluate this particular drug regimen in these types of patients, appears in the online version of the journal Gynecologic Oncology. Dr. Einstein is associate professor of obstetrics & gynecology and women's health at Einstein.
