Priyanka Patil Returns to Montefiore Einstein Pathology; Joins Faculty

Priyanka Patil, MD, a 2019 graduate of Montefiore’s Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency Training Program, has joined the faculty as an Attending Pathologist on the GI/Liver Service and Assistant Professor of Pathology at Einstein. She will also serve as the inaugural Associate Director of Resident Wellness and Residency Ombudsperson. In these new roles, she will provide resident wellness programming, liaise with the graduate medical education wellness office, and mediate resident concerns.

Since completing her residency training at Montefiore, Dr. Patil has gained valuable experience as a surgical pathologist. She completed a GI and Liver pathology fellowship at the Rhode Island Hospital/The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, RI. Following her training, she was Attending Surgical Pathologist and Associate Program Director of the Pathology Residency Program at Westchester Medical Center and Assistant Professor of Pathology at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. Dr. Patil’s medical education began at R.C.S.M. Government Medical College in Kolhapur, India, followed by Medical Microbiology residency training at Sassoon General Hospital/BJ Medical College in Pune, India, before coming to Montefiore Einstein in 2015.

“I’m thrilled that Dr. Patil is returning to Montefiore Einstein,” said Nicole C. Panarelli, MD, the Director of Gastrointestinal Pathology, Director of Anatomic Pathology Research, Co-director of Resident Research, and Professor of Pathology at Montefiore Einstein. “Her expertise will be an asset to the care of patients with gastrointestinal, hepatic, and pancreatobiliary disorders,” Dr. Panarelli added, noting that Dr. Patil’s passion for resident education will make her an excellent leader of the Resident Wellness Program.

Dr. Patil is an impressive speaker who has presented her research at numerous conferences and grand rounds. She won the outstanding speaker award during her residency training at the 2018 Pathology Research Symposium. She was recently elected to the House of Delegates at the College of American Pathologists (CAP) New York Delegation (2023-2026 term), where she and her colleagues will play a critical role in connecting CAP leadership and pathologists in the United States, effectively serving as a voice for current members.

When she’s not working, Dr. Patil enjoys spending time with her husband and two wonderful children, traveling, and photography.
