Job Description:

The laboratory of Professor William R. Jacobs, at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY, seeks to understand the mechanisms of immune protection agains Mycobacterium tuberculosis, M. leprae, and Herpes viruses.  We have made a new single-cycle Herpes vaccine candidate that elicits sterilizing immunity against HSV-1 and HSV-2.  The vaccine selectively induces antibodies that mediate antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxic killing.  This position will utilize this platform technology to generate new vaccine candidates for human pathogens including M. tuberculosis and M. leprae.  In addition, it will provide a unique opportunity to be exposed to preclinical vaccine research and development.

We are accepting applications for postdoctoral positions.  The ideal applicant should have a PhD or equivalent, and be skilled in virology, molecular biology, immunology and animal infections.  Experience in BSL3 conditions is considered a plus.  Please note, the position offered will be dependent on experience.  Interested candidates should send Cover letter, CV and list of three references to:
