Professional Interests

Nadia Ovchinsky, MD, MBA is the director of pediatric hepatology and the medical director of pediatric liver transplantation at Children's Hospital at Montefiore. 

Dr. Ovchinsky’s clinical practice focuses on liver disorders of childhood, with a particular emphasis on biliary atresia and cholestatic disorders of childhood, metabolic liver disorders, liver failure, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, autoimmune liver disease, viral hepatitis, and liver transplantation. She is board certified in pediatrics, pediatric gastroenterology, as well as pediatric transplant hepatology

Dr. Ovchinsky received both her medical degree and Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Dr. Ovchinsky:

  • Completed her pediatric residency and was chief resident at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian.
  • Pursued a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology and received advanced training in pediatric transplant hepatology at Columbia University Medical Center.
  • Received numerous academic honors and awards, teaching awards, and recognitions for humanism in medicine.

Dr. Ovchinsky is a member of leading professional societies, and serves on national and international professional committees.

Dr. Ovchinsky’s research interests include clinical studies of cholestatic liver diseases and  non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in children, improving quality and enhancing the delivery care for children with chronic liver disorders, as well as optimizing long-term outcomes of pediatric liver transplantation.
