Research Fellowships

Dermatopharmacology Fellowship

Director: Steven R. Cohen, MD MPH 

A competitive two-year program that introduces fellows to the design and implementation of clinical trials in dermatology. The fellow will have the opportunity to collaborate on a wide variety of cutting-edge projects in dermatology, including studies of atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, alopecia areata, supportive oncodermatology, and hidradenitis suppurativa. Targeted towards graduated M.D. or D.O. recipients who have completed intern year.

Supportive Oncodermatology Fellowship 

Director: Beth McLellan, MD 

A one-year program open to medical students between their 3rd and 4th years. Dr. McLellan studies a wide range of dermatologic conditions. Currently, she is working to develop an understanding of the pathogenesis of radiation dermatitis and the interplay of the immunologic response, Staphylococcus aureus, and the microbiome. Fellows receive mentorship from Dr. McLellan and other faculty and engage in clinical work alongside the residents throughout the year.

Hidradenitis Suppurativa Fellowship

Director: Steven R. Cohen, MD MPH 

A one-year fellowship open to medical students between their 3rd and 4th years. Currently, Dr. Cohen is investigating various aspects of the pathogenesis and management of hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), including the role of various inflammatory markers, the efficacy of high-dose intralesional triamcinolone, and the impact of COVID-19 on HS patients.  Prior noteworthy projects include reporting on the utility of high dose infliximab and finasteride therapies for hidradenitis suppurativa.  Fellows will participate in patient care at the Montefiore Hidradenitis Suppurativa Center and may facilitate a support group for patients suffering with hidradenitis suppurativa
