- K503B Dermatology Preceptorship

K503A Dermatology Elective
On the first Monday of the rotation students report to: 3411 Wayne Avenue, 2nd Floor, Suite D, Bronx, NY 10467 at 7:30 AM
K503B Dermatology Preceptorship
On the first Monday of the rotation students report to: 1250 Waters Place, 6th Floor, Suite D, Bronx, NY 10467 at 8:30 AM.

The Dermatology Elective Experience
The dermatology elective courses at Albert Einstein are designed to give students a
comprehensive experience in dermatology. Available clinical experiences span the various
Montefiore affiliated hospitals, including the Montefiore Moses Campus, Montefiore Wakefield
Campus, Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx
Hospital. Under faculty supervision students will play an active role in patient care. Students will
also participate weekly grand rounds, didactic lectures, diagnostic and clinicopathologic
conferences.
Objectives
- To appreciate the scope of dermatology from primary dermatoses to cutaneous manifestations of systemic disease.
- To become fluent in the description of skin conditions based on primary and secondary lesions and distribution.
- To generate a dermatologic differential diagnosis based on lesion morphology and distribution.
- To realize the broad treatment armamentarium utilized by dermatologists including topical, systemic and intralesional steroids, oral immunosuppressants, targeted biologics and surgical intervention.
Schedule
K503A Dermatology Elective
Students typically spend 2 weeks at Montefiore Moses and 2 weeks at Jacobi Medical
Center. Site assignments will be determined on the first Monday of the rotation.
K503B Dermatology Preceptorship
Students typically spend 4 weeks with Dr. Steven Cohen at the Faculty Practice and Hutchinson Metro Center.
Expectations
Attendance to all academic and clinical sessions are mandatory, any absences require
prior approval by the Academic Chief Resident.
Evaluation and Grade Criteria
Students will be evaluated based on their overall clinical performance and a mandatory final oral presentation.
Honors
Student is performing at an exceptional level far above expectations for level of training.
High Pass
Student is performing at an excellent level above expectations for level of training.
Pass
Student is at expected level of training for this rotation.
Low Pass
Student can pass this rotation but requires remediation.
Fail
Student cannot pass this rotation.
Incomplete
Student has not met all the requirements of the rotation.
