Dr. Xiang Xu completed her PhD at New York University and her undergraduate
studies at Jilin University, China. Currently she is an Assistant
Professor in the Department of Radiology at the Johns Hopkins University
School of Medicine. Her research focuses on method development and the
application of chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) techniques both
on pre- clinical and clinical MRI scanners. She is developing methodologies
that would enable the imaging of D-glucose in vivo using CEST. She has
successfully established a reproducible protocol to study the glucose
uptake in mice brain tumor models and translated the related techniques to
7 Tesla and 3 Tesla human scanners to study the contrast enhancement of
brain tumors in patients. Dr. Xu’s research is currently supported by a Pathway to Independence
Award from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and
Bioengineering.
