Assessing the Learner
Date: Thursday, July 9, 2020
Time: 9:00 AM To 10:00 AM
Location: VIA ZOOM
Event Description:
As medical education transitions from teacher-centered approaches to more learner-centered approaches, faculty must transition from a role of expert to a facilitator of learning. This session takes adult learning theory and provides concrete frameworks and specific skills to promote students and residents as active participants in solving real-world problems. Assessing first what learners know and can do is essential in effectively targeting your instruction in ways that promotes them towards life-long learning.
After this one hour session, participants will be able to:
1. Describe adult learning principles and apply these principles to their work with medical students and residents
2. Use productive questions to assess learners knowledge, experience and clinical reasoning in order to teach toward their learning needs
Target Audience:
All faculty.
