The Division of Hospital Medicine manages hospitalist physicians and physician assistants who deliver inpatient care to patients admitted to the medical service at Montefiore Medical Center. Patients admitted to the medical service who do not have an admitting physician are assigned to a hospitalist physician. The hospitalist serves as the attending of record and is responsible for all aspects of the patient’s care.
A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in the care of hospitalized patients. Hospitalists engage in all aspects of patient care from diagnosis and treatment to perioperative care at the Moses, Einstein, and Wakefield Divisions of Montefiore Medical Center.
