Job Opportunities

Position#:03082023
Title: Postdoctoral Position, Laboratory of Dr. B. Hilda Ye, PhD

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP is available immediately to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms of HTLV-1 driven adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL). Being the only human cancer caused by a retrovirus, ATLL is a fatal disease with no effective therapy. ATLL is distinguished from other types of T cell lymphomas in its unique genetic and phenotypic characteristics as well as clinical behavior. Evidence is also accumulating that ATLL diagnosed in North America and Japan may differ in their mutation patterns and anti-HTLV-1 host immune response. We use patient samples as well as cell line and PDX models to investigate the roles played by epigenetic dysregulation, altered crosstalk of cell signaling pathways, elevated replication stress in ATLL development and targeted therapies. We have also begun to examine how host immunity is impacted during ATLL development. More information about our work can be found at: https://www.einsteinmed.edu/faculty/7901/b-hilda-ye/

Recent PhD or MD graduates with significant research experience are preferred. Proficiency in molecular biology techniques including the manipulation and analysis of gene expression in cultured and primary cells is required. Some knowledge of immunology would be desirable, so are computational skills. First authored publication(s) in peer-reviewed, English language journals are necessary. Ability to work independently, motivation to make new discoveries and a strong work ethic are important. A curriculum vitae with a description of research experiences and contact information for three references should be sent to hilda.ye@einsteinmed.edu . Please make the email subject "Postdoctoral Application - Your name."

An NIH-funded postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Kielian laboratory at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. Our lab uses enveloped alphaviruses and rubiviruses as highly developed and medically important systems to study virus entry and virus biogenesis at the molecular level. We are looking for a motivated and creative postdoctoral candidate to join exciting NIH-funded projects to identify and characterize inhibitors of alphavirus replication and to identify host factors involved in rubivirus replication. Projects use multidisciplinary approaches and take advantage of the interactive and collaborative atmosphere of our lab and of the Einstein research environment. Postdocs in the lab are provided with individualized mentoring in all aspects of career development. Further information and links to publications are on the lab and faculty websites:
https://www.einsteinmed.edu/faculty/7896/margaret-kielian/
https://sites.google.com/site/kielianlab/

Candidates with a strong background in virology, biochemistry, molecular biology and/or cell biology are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have excellent research and organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. To apply, please email a CV with a list of your publications, a short description of your research experience and how it prepares you for research in our lab, and the names and contact information for 3 references to: margaret.kielian@einsteinmed.edu . Please make the email subject "Kielian Postdoctoral Application." Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Our laboratory is in the Cell Biology Department at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (https://www.einsteinmed.edu/departments/cell-biology/ ). The department has a strong and interactive community of postdoctoral fellows and graduate students working in diverse areas of cell biology. The college has an outstanding academic environment with excellent core research facilities and an active postdoctoral association that sponsors a wide range of training opportunities and career guidance (https://www.einsteinmed.edu/research/belfer-institute/ ). The college is located in a pleasant residential Bronx community with easy access to the outstanding cultural and recreational opportunities of New York. Subsidized postdoctoral housing is available through the college.

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. Our group is committed to collegiality, equity and inclusion. Position#:05272021
Title: Postdoctoral Position: Mammalian Epigenomics, Chromatin Structure and Function, Cancer.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A postdoctoral position is available at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the laboratory of Dr. Art Skoultchi, Professor and Chair of Cell Biology.

The goal is to understand the roles of H1 linker histones in chromatin structure and function, gene regulation and cancer. We have prepared a unique series of knock-out mice and ES cell lines lacking specific H1 histones. Our studies have revealed roles for H1 histones in gene regulation, the epigenetic landscape, nuclear organization and blood cancers:

Yusufova et al. Nature 589:299 (2021)
Healton et al. PNAS 117:14251 (2020)

Seeking an accomplished applicant with a strong background in cell and molecular biology. Experience working with embryonic stem cells and mice is a plus. However, in the selection of candidates we will emphasize overall scientific abilities and potential rather than specific experience or technical expertise. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent and possess strong independent research abilities with ambitious scientific interests, self-motivation and the ability to work effectively with a team.

Successful candidates will be offered generous salary and benefits, including College-subsidized postdoctoral housing in a pleasant residential neighborhood near the medical school. To apply, please send a CV with a brief description of research experience and career goals, plus contact information for three references to:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Ito Laboratory at the Ruth L. and David S. Gottesman Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Research of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is actively seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows. Our research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate the maintenance of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and leukemia-initiating cells (LICs; also referred to as leukemia stem cells). Specifically, we aim to identify novel regulatory mechanisms for stem cell fate and maintenance, and in turn open new therapeutic avenues for the pharmacological manipulation of the normal and leukemic stem cell function. Projects in the laboratory is to illuminate through both genetic and pharmacological approaches the role of one such potential regulatory element, cellular metabolism and epigenetic regulation, in the cell fate decisions of self-renewing stem cells. The laboratory employs a wide range of stem cell analysis with specialized skill sets, genomic technologies as well as classical cellular and molecular biology approaches to investigate the normal stem cell biology at single cell level and the pathogenesis of specific human stem cell disorders.

Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent. A strong training background in hematology, stem cell biology and/or cancer biology, molecular and cell biology is preferred. To apply, please email CV, a summary of the previous research experience and the future research interest, and the contact information of three references to the following address: keisuke.ito@einsteinmed.org. Keisuke Ito, M.D., Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Cell Biology and of Medicine and Director of Scientific Resources of Stem Cell Institute, Gottesman Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Research, Albert Einstein Cancer Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, 1301 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx, NY 10461.

Among the top tier of the nation's medical schools to receive NIH funding, Albert Einstein College of Medicine offers a highly interactive and stimulating academic environment for scientists in training. Additionally, candidate’s research will benefit from the highly interactive environment within the Gottesman Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, the Department of Developmental and Molecular Biology, and throughout the college. We are located in a pleasant residential area in the northeast corner of New York City with easy access to Manhattan and the suburbs of Westchester County. Comprehensive Benefits package will be offered. Postdoctoral campus housing may be available.
